I was coming back from Hyderabad after a short vacation at my parent's place. This time I had fallen prey for the legendary APSRTC bus maintenance.
The so called semi sleeper bus is such badly maintained that even maximum sound from my Archos player could not help reduce the sound created by the windows.Every other type of vehicle on the high way was overtaking our bus. Imagine my misery just watching them zooming past...I realized that is the state of the bus and not the driver's fault.
We had a brief stop for a cup of tea early in the morning. That was such a relief. With the tea cup in my hand, I walked the driver and asked him 'Isn't it difficult to drive such a bus with so low pick up? How are you managing?' Driver received it well and expalined the technical problem he is facing. He said he is going to escalate it.
A few moments after that another person brought the same problem to him and asked 'See, you are making us miss our office today...'. Now you people got it right, the drive shot back and gave a very rough answer.
Got down from the bus and looked at the driver...the driver gave me a hearty smile and I thanked him. After all there was no mistake of the driver and shouting at him wouldn't have helped me in anyways, atleast that smile made difference in me and him.
My HR friend travelling with me told that I have used a technique which is normally used by HRs.
